MEMBERSHIP IN THE WORLDS LARGEST AND MOST ACTIVE SERVICE CLUB ORGANIZATION IS A PRIVILEGE.
THIS CLUB IS A GROUP OF PEOPLE BONDED TOGETHER TO DO THINGS THAT YOU AND I CANNOT DO AS INDIVIDUALS. IN FACT THE MOTTO OF LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL AND OF THIS CLUB IS, WE SERVE. AS YOU PROGRESS IN LIONISM, YOU WILL GET THAT GREAT SATISFACTION THAT COMES FROM HELPING OTHERS IN THIS COMMUNITY, AND HAVING FUN WHILE DOING IT. YOU WILL SEE HOW LIONS HELP THEIR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS WHO ARE BLIND, SICK, STRICKEN, AND HANDICAPPED. THIS KIND OF HUMANITARIAN WORK WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE UNLESS INDIVIDUALS WERE WILLING TO GIVE OF THEIR TIME AND ENERGY IN SERVICE TO OTHERS.
THE REWARDS OF MEMBERSHIP ARE GREAT. YOU WILL BE WARMED BY THE THANKS OF THE PEOPLE YOU HELP AND BY THE COMMUNITY IN WHICH YOU SERVE. YOU WILL HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF WORKING WITH OTHER CLUB MEMBERS THROUGH COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS. ABOVE ALL, YOU WILL FIND IN YOUR LIONS CLUB THE MEDIUM THROUGH WHICH YOU CAN EXPRESS THE GOODWILL THAT IS IN YOUR HEART.
THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LIONS CLUBS WAS CONCEIVED AT A MEETING HELD ON JUNE 7, 1917 IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS UNDER THE SPONSORSHIP OF ITS FOUNDER, MELVIN JONES.
THE FIRST ANNUAL CONVENTION WAS HELD ON OCTOBER 8 THRU 10, 1917 IN DALLAS, TEXAS WITH 23 CLUBS PARTICIPATING. IT IS NOW A FELLOWSHIP OF 1.5 MILLION SERVICE MINDED MEN AND WOMEN IN OVER 43,000 CLUBS IN 185 COUNTRIES. NOW OUR PAST IS HISTORY. TODAY WE ASK YOU TO TAKE UP THE TORCH OF LIONISM, TO HELP MAKE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE FOR ALL MANKIND — WE ASK YOU TO SERVE. |

LIONS CLUBS ATTENDANCE MAKE-UP RULES The Enterprise Lions encourages perfect attendance to Club meeting. To assist the Club member with attaining the "Perfect Club Attendance Award" the following procedures apply and explain how to make-up missed meetings. Lost attendance through absence from a regular meeting of a Lions Club, may be made up within the time limits of 13 days prior to and 13 days following the date of the missed meeting, by the member(s) attendance at any of the following:
A Lion who visits the office of Lions Clubs International when in Oak Brook or any district or state office outside the country of which the visiting Lion is a member, is allowed attendance make-up if such visit is made within the above named time limits. Cards announcing such visits are presented to Lions when they visit such offices. A member who is forced to miss meeting(s) by reason of illness shall automatically be granted attendance credit for meeting(s) missed upon acceptable evidence of said illness. A member who is forced to miss meetings, as a result of military service, jury duty, elected government position or other statutory requirements shall be given attendance credit for meetings missed. In each the Club Board of Directors shall decide if credit should be given for the missed meeting. Any Lion who finds it necessary, or is assigned, to perform occupational duties for an extended period in a place from which he cannot readily attend Lions Club meeting may be granted, in the discretion of his Club, credit for meetings missed thereby. |
